IVAD09 blog festival, originally uploaded by gwendolen.

I wrote about International Vulture Awareness Day last week. I’d like you to know IVAD09 is hosting a blog festival on September 5. You can read all about Blog for Vultures on IVAD09/wp.

I hope you will all participate. I’m very much looking forward to read about vultures from all over the world.

  • A very interesting bird - and certainly very different from most of the pretty little birds that usually are posted on BPW! Nice photo!
  • That's one awesome shot!
I haven't seen a wild vulture anywhere yet.
    :(
  • Hope you'll get to see one one day Nicole. The Hungarian Falconers Club is supporting IVAD09, they have a website http://www.solymaszat.hu. Maybe they have tips. :)
  • Thanks, Gwen!
I didn't even know they existed.
Bookmarked the page and will check it further.
    Thanks :)!
  • Vultures may not be good-looking birds, but they are an important part of our ecology. Great shot of the White-headed, Gwen.
  • The vulture shots are cool. I live in the rural south of the U.S. And the vultures are much appreciated. There is roadkill all over the place, everything from armadillos to deer. Vultures clean up the situation. In the early mornings, it can be fascinating to watch them on their perches. They sit and stretch their wings out as though drying off the morning dew, and then they take to the sky in loose meandering circles until they find something to eat.

That is one of the coolest looking vultures I have ever seen Gwen! Excellent capture. Looking forward to IVAD 09!
  • Very cool vulture and a beautiful photo of him. I love vultures--any kind!
  • I echo the others in saying that's a cool looking Vulture. Much different than the Turkey and Black Vultures we have here. Excellent shot Gwendolen!
