I finally managed to tick Bee-eater in Europe. Spotted at the salt pans of Kalloni on Lesvos. These two pics were made in South Africa.

Little Egret This little egret spent hours fishing in the surf. I’m sorting through my holiday photos at the moment – and unpacking and washing. More photos and stories this weekend. // Lappet-faced Vulture Immature White-headed Vulture (and not a Lappet-faced) is on (sky)watch today. Thanks André André works for EWT, the Endangered Wildlife Trust in South Africa and manages the Birds of Prey Working Group. André has one of the best jobs in the world. He only just came back from 2 surveys in Kruger [...] Last year, on our way to Olifants Rest Camp in Kruger National Park, we stopped on the bridge just before Letaba to stretch our legs a bit. You are allowed out between the two yellow lines marked on the tar. This starling was sitting there chatting [...] Last Friday we went for a walk through the park and saw that the Egyptian goslings had hatched. I didn’t have my camera with me, so I went back today to get some shots. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the only one looking for baby birds. Two little girls also saw the goslings and showed their love [...] |
